Seeking the truth and finding Allah.
*weeps* I don't even have it yet. Is it really that bad?
Yes, it's AWFUL! I was snickering at the sappy dedication before I even got to the first chapter. I wrote a nice, long review on it, but Amazon didn't post it. Guess I hurt somebody's feelings, lol. We all know LKH doesn't tolerate anything but blind devotion and adoration and that she's the bestest writer EVAH! Basically, the characters were totally butchered. All of the previous "will do/would never do" laws for each so got broken. LKH obviously decided that having Anita sleep with practically every guy in a 100-mile radius wasn't enough, so now she has a girlfriend. And four of her boyfriends paired off together, too. I totally have nothing against gay men or women, but I am against using it as a last ditch effort to shock and amaze because she's used every other sexual plot device there is. That's where the problem comes in for me. Despite all that, I was also bored. The book was a series of sexual encounters that, for the most part, could have been recycled from any of the last 6 books. Next to no attention was paid to the plot -- the most you get of that was the ending summary chapter. Unless you want to torture yourself, I'd recommend going and reading the reviews on Amazon. A lot of them provide synopsis, so you won't have to slog your way through the book to find out what happens.
*sigh* Bugger. You know, I would bet money that the reason there is suddenly gay & lesbian couples in this book is because LKH is always getting called on being homophobic. All of her characters previously who showed any attraction to members of the same sex were sucked into the vast abyss that is Anita's Magic Sex. *grr*You know, there's an lj community dedicated to ripping LKH's stuff into little tiny pieces. I'm feeling so tempted...
