Work clothes.

Eek. I didn't think finding hijab-worthy work clothes would be so hard... But it is. Particularly skirts. I want a long black skirt (the "crinkly hippie style" that I've seen quite a few girls wearing over the summer). It would match any of the nice dressy shirts that I have. Problem is, I can't seem to find one anywhere. I guess it's because that's a summer thing and stores are stocking winter clothes now. *sigh*
Yes, they have lots of long-sleeved stuff, but most of it is WAY too tight-fitting for comfort. Or too sheer. What is the point of making something long if you make it tight and the fabric is so thin that it will not keep you warm? I guess you're supposed to layer it?

I hate shopping for clothes. I think I was absent the day they handed out that gene to all the other girls. : P

  1. Have you tried online?

shukronline.com has some very nice looking skirts, etc. I've never bought from them because they seem expenseive to me, but I was always taught to never pay full price for clothes....I'm a sale rack shopper by nature...

  2. I agree shukr is amazing for pretty much everything. They are a little pricey but good quality. Be warned, they run a little big. Follow the measurements on the sizing chart.

Do you have H&M by you? They usually have some hijab worthy items. LOTS of scarves teehee. They are cheap too.

  3. if you are going to shop at shukr why not go through frugalmuslim.com? You will get 5% cash back from your purchase.

  4. Amber: I'm like you. My mom is the ultimate bargain hunter (she once bought me a pair of new jeans for $1). I'm all about sales racks and thrift stores.

LK: No. Actually, I've never heard of H&M. We do have several Ross stores, and I've bought several things there.

Tuttie: Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out.

  5. Ugh, I can't stand shopping for work clothes. Anything else is fine, but I hate wearing collard shirt if I can help it. Thankfully I work in IT and can get away with jeans and t-shirts! :P

Sheer shirts are one of the most frustrating things of my life! I've started stocking up on plain solid long-sleeve shirts and just putting short-sleeves over top of them.

Swishy skirts are like magnets to me. If I find a nice black one here do you want me to send it to you?

  6. ross is a good bet for tops, but they don't seem to have any skirts in for fall. Try Marshall's or tjmaxx.

I've gotten all of my skirts from Shukr. Their quality is amazing and they will surely last you forever. Invest in just one black skirt and buy the rest of clothes from bargain stores. try some of the resale stores usually people get rid of their summer stuff to shop for fall. Buffalo Exchange and the like.
